HOMESCHOOLING: Prosecution is waged abroad, while troubling trends abound in US

The following excerpt is from an interview Mike Farris, president of Home School Legal Defense Association, did with the Baptist Press:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–As the practice of homeschooling continues to grow, an expert has noticed a “marked increase” in the scrutiny that parents and students can face when they choose to pursue an education at home.

“I think what we’re seeing is unfortunately a growing trend,” Michael Farris, chancellor of Patrick Henry College, told Baptist Press.

Sen. Gilbert Baker Explains the Tim Tebow Bill

During the 2009 Arkansas legislative session, Sen. Gilbert Baker (R-Conway) proposed what’s known as the “Tim Tebow bill,” which allows home-educated students to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities at their local public school. The bill didn’t pass, but it received a lot of attention and interest. Below is a video of Sen. Baker explaining the bill.

Convention Update for 09/23/10

I just thought I would keep you guys in the information loop as I plan both home school conventions for 2011.  First of all, as a reminder, the Searcy convention will be at Harding University on May 20 & 21 and the North West Arkansas convention has been moved to a new location and at a new time.  It will now be in Bentonville at the Clarion Hotel on July 28 & 29.  We had to move it because (more…)
