More on HB 2144, Bad Home School Bill

Today a group of us went to lobby members of the House Education Committee in regards to HB 2144, Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill. While the bill did not come up today, I can tell you honestly that I believe we are making headway.

Representatives told us they have received calls and emails from home schoolers all over Arkansas; they are hearing our side of this story, but we cannot afford to let up.

Ft. Smith Superintendent Supports HB 2144, Opposes Home School Rights

Today we received a copy of the legislative newsletter published by the Fort Smith School Superintendent, Benny Gooden. The letter makes broad generalizations about Arkansas’ home schoolers, and is intensely supportive of HB 2144, Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill. The letter was sent to legislators last week.

Revised Talking Points on HB 2144

Last past week we’ve emailed you daily updates on the fight that is brewing over HB 2144, Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill. Early on we gave you a list of talking points designed to help you understand the bill as you talk to your Representative about it.

On Friday we revamped some of these talking points to make them clearer and more exhaustive. I’ve included a copy of them below. Please use them as you communicate with your Representative this week.
