Home School Day at the Capitol Successful!

Home schoolers from across Arkansas gathered today in Little Rock for Home School Day at the Capitol.

Home School Day at the Capitol is more than just a field trip to Arkansas’ leading legislative building; it’s an opportunity to interact with lawmakers, build friendships with our elected officials, and make our voices heard on the issues that matter to us.  It’s an educational experience on the inner-workings of government.

Today, families from every corner of the state made this event a success, and we would like to thank everyone who participated.  Thank you for your support; we look forward to hosting our next Home School Day at the Capitol in 2011.

Important: We want to hear your Home School Day at the Capitol Stories! Did you get to visit with your senator or representative? Did you and your children learn something interesting during the tours? Do you have suggestions for future events at the Capitol? We want to hear about them! Leave a comment at the bottom of this page, and let us hear from you.

Thanks for sponsoring the Home School Day at the Capitol. It was a great experience for us. We all seemed to come away with a greater understanding of and interest in our state government. We did get to speak briefly with our senator, Jimmy Jeffress.

My children had a wonderful day at the Capitol. We were able to meet and get pictures with our Representative, John Burris. He was gracious and spent quite a bit of time with our group. We loved the beauty of the Capitol! Our tour guide did a wonderful job and we learned a lot!

I think it would nice if a time could be set aside to have a picture taken of all the homeschoolers, maybe on the Capitol steps??? I’m sure not everyone could make it at a particular time. but it would be nice to see all of us assembled together!

Do you have an estimate of how many homeschoolers actually came?

Thank you so much for hosting this. You do an awesome job!

I believe we had a little under 900 people in attendance.

And I like the idea of group photo. We’ll have to see what we can work out next year.

Thank you so much for putting together homeschool day at the capitol. Today when I contacted my representative about the bad homeschool bill, I was able to refer to that. It made it so much easier to correspond with him.
