{"id":1140,"date":"2013-02-21T08:32:24","date_gmt":"2013-02-21T15:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arkansashomeschool.org\/?p=1140"},"modified":"2013-02-20T09:16:44","modified_gmt":"2013-02-20T16:16:44","slug":"top-10-home-school-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arkansashomeschool.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/21\/top-10-home-school-websites\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 10 Home School Websites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Published with Permission<br \/>\nWritten by Kimberly Williams<br \/>\nwww.untilthedaydawn.wordpress.com<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">A generation ago, the homeschooling movement was considered to be at best cutting-edge, eccentric, and alternative.\u00a0 At its worst it was considered strange, rare, and in some states illegal.\u00a0 But today the movement has become more main-stream.\u00a0 Currently with over 2 million home educated children, homeschooling may be the fastest growing form of education in the United States.\u00a0 I consider being able to teach my children at home a wonderful privilege, a huge responsibility, and an awesome calling from God.\u00a0 With the loving support and encouragement from my husband and the amazing grace of God, we have been homeschooling for over 10 years.\u00a0 Each year brings new experiences, creates wonderful memories, and brings our family closer together.<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Each fall as we start back to school, my husband and I have spend weeks pouring through our curriculum, praying for wisdom, and writing out schedules and lesson plans.\u00a0 I also spend a lot of time online so I thought I would share my\u00a0<strong>Top 10 Favorite Homeschool Websites<\/strong>\u00a0with each of you.\u00a0 Hope you enjoy!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hslda.org\/\">http:\/\/www.hslda.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Home School Legal Defense Association is a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms.\u00a0 If you are a homeschooler and not a member, I highly encourage you to join today.\u00a0 HSLDA is a Christian organization, inexpensive and well worth the peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donnayoung.org\/\">http:\/\/www.donnayoung.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love this website.\u00a0 It has free printables and resources for home, homeschool, and classrooms.\u00a0 It has everything from lesson planners, calendars, chore makers, and much more.\u00a0 Check it out!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.homeschoolclassifieds.com\/\">http:\/\/www.homeschoolclassifieds.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are looking to buy or sell used homeschool curriculum this is the website for you.\u00a0 It\u2019s easy to use and saves tons of money.\u00a0 Not only have I\u2019ve purchased curriculum this week, but I\u2019ve made $120 selling used curriculum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/homeschoolenrichment.com\/\">http:\/\/homeschoolenrichment.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>By far this is the best Christian homeschooling magazine out there.\u00a0 Don\u2019t believe me?\u00a0 See for yourself and sign up today for their FREE digital magazine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booksshouldbefree.com\/\">http:\/\/www.booksshouldbefree.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love the concept behind Books Should Be Free.\u00a0 This website has tons of free public domain audiobooks and eBooks.\u00a0 You can download books for iPhone, Android, Kindle, and mp3 layers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamplighterpublishing.com\/\">http:\/\/www.lamplighterpublishing.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Okay, I agree that books should be free.\u00a0 However, if you are going to buy them, this is the place to do so.\u00a0 Lamplighter Publishing is my all-time favorite place to get books and their dramatized audios are excellent.\u00a0 They are costly, but well worth the investment.\u00a0 Our collection is something I will hold on to.\u00a0 One day I can see myself reading them to my grandchildren and great-grandchildren!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\/\">http:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Khan Academy provides a free world-class education for anyone anywhere. All of the site\u2019s resources are available to anyone. It doesn\u2019t matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. The Khan Academy\u2019s materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.\u201d (from their website)<\/p>\n<p>I really like this website.\u00a0 It has over 3,000 videos from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and practice problems to go with them.\u00a0 Best of all \u2013 IT\u2019S FREE!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handwritingworksheets.com\/flash\/cursive\/index.htm\">http:\/\/www.handwritingworksheets.com\/flash\/cursive\/index.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has children learning to write is cursive will want to visit this site.\u00a0 You simply type in what you want and it generates the worksheets for you.\u00a0 Just print them out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oldfashionededucation.com\/index.html\">http:\/\/www.oldfashionededucation.com\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll find here a directory of free homeschool curricula, literature and text books organized for the use of homeschooling families.\u00a0 There are lots of good resources here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.homeschoolconvention.com\/\">http:\/\/www.homeschoolconvention.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Home Educating Family has put together this website.\u00a0 It is a great place to look up curriculum reviews, visit their online convention, check out their magazine, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So here it is, my top 1o.\u00a0 Of course, there are so many great products and resources out there that it was hard to pick just 10.
