With just one week left to go in the legislature, nerves are starting to get a little frayed at the Capitol Building. Everybody–both legislators and lobbyists alike–are feeling tired and overloaded as the session comes to a close.

Legislative sessions don’t exactly ease to a stop. We’re now entering what many of us call “The Eleventh Hour,” in which a lot of bad legislation is pushed through, a lot of good legislation is killed, and people’s judgment begins to be affected by exhaustion. The next few days will be an all-out, mad sprint to the finish line. Thankfully, there are no bad home school bills looming on the horizon. HB 2144 was sent to an interim study earlier this week, and the only legislation concerning home school students is Senator Baker’s SB 842, the Tim Tebow home school bill.
With just a week to go, we’re going to keep an eye on everything going on in the Capitol. Over the next few days, it will be important to keep an ear to the ground to ensure that no one tries to slip any bad legislation through at the last second. In the meantime, we will keep you posted as the session winds down and we gear up for home school conventions in May.
